Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds
(Cuerpos Sanos, Mentes Sanas)
A Worker-Centered Framework Integrating Yoga, Arts & Collective Healing
Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds is a worker-centered, community-rooted initiative centering immigrant domestic workers, day laborers, and historically marginalized communities through embodied healing, cultural expression, and collective leadership.
Developed through long-term collaboration in San Francisco, this framework integrates:

Embodied
movement

Multilingual
facilitation

Cultural
expression

Long-term
community partnership

Collective
storytelling

Political advocacy
through the arts
It represents the convergence of BienStar Consulting’s three pillars: language justice, arts, and well-being.
Our Origin
Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds began in 2019 in partnership with Nuevo Sol Day Labor & Domestic Worker Center, where immigrant workers expressed the need for healing spaces that honored their labor, dignity, and leadership.
What began as accessible yoga sessions evolved into an integrated model combining somatic practice, cultural expression, and community organizing.

Through collaboration with Nuevo Sol Worker Center and Dance Mission Theater, the program expanded into arts-integrated advocacy and healing spaces strengthening the connection between social movement practice and cultural performance.

Weekly gatherings at the Center for Social and Economic Justice (CSEJ) continue to anchor this work in consistency, trust, and collective care.
BienStar Consulting is also a member organization of the Alliance for Social and Economic Justice (ASEJ), strengthening alignment with regional movement-building efforts.
